Chapter 3: The First Trade
Thump. Thud. Clip-clop.
“Hello!” called Frances, strutting in first. A bag of bright-red apples bounced at her side. Billy rolled in next, pushing a massive melon with both paws. The twin chipmunks waddled up behind him, dragging a tiny basket. “We brought berries!” they piped in unison.
Soon, a long, wiggly line stretched down the trail—fur, feathers, and shells pressed side by side.
Mia handed out bananas—to paws, to hooves, to wings. “I’m counting down to the next fruit trade!” Billy declared, smacking his lips with a happy grin.
